The Ghana Police Service has arrested controversial relationship counsellor Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, widely known as Counsellor Lutterodt, following remarks he allegedly made about the burial of late highlife icon Daddy Lumba.

The arrest comes after Lutterodt reportedly made statements encouraging members of the public to confront individuals connected to the ongoing dispute over the musician’s burial arrangements.

Reports indicate that during a media discussion, the outspoken counsellor suggested that some members of the Ga community should visit the late musician’s residence in East Legon if claims that he had been secretly buried there were true. He allegedly called on the youth to dig up the area if necessary to verify the claim.

His comments quickly attracted strong criticism from the public, with many describing the remarks as inflammatory and capable of creating tension.

Security authorities are said to be investigating the statements to determine whether they constitute incitement or conduct likely to disturb public order under Ghana’s criminal laws.

The controversy surrounding Daddy Lumba’s burial has been ongoing since the passing of the legendary musician, whose influence on Ghana’s highlife music scene spanned decades. Disagreements over funeral and burial arrangements among parties connected to the late singer have generated significant public debate.

Counsellor Lutterodt has built a reputation in Ghana’s media space for his bold and sometimes controversial opinions on social and relationship issues. Over the years, his comments on radio and television programmes have often sparked widespread discussion on social media.

The Ghana Police Service has yet to release a detailed official statement regarding the arrest or possible charges that may be brought against the counsellor.

Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
